Verge Automaton Repeater
Fine and handsome continental silver gilt verge and fusee quarter hour repeater automaton
circa 1810.
White enamel dial with cobalt blue center flanked by figures of natives in various
colors of gold (restoration). Plain polish case. Gilt movement with pierced and
engraved cock.
When activated by depressing the pendant, this watch chimes the time using different chime tones to
designate the hours and quarter hours with loud clear tones. The figures on the
dial strike mock bells in coordination with the repeater mechanism.
