Fine and rare early single handed French silver pair case verge and fusee alarm
antique pocket watch by Paliard, Besancon, circa 1700.
Fine white enamel "en bosse" ring dial with the numbers on raised cartouches.
Single blued steel hour hand and central gilt brass central alarm dial.
The outer case with pierced and engraved inhabited foliage separated by.
portrait busts. The inner case similarly decorated. Wonderful movement with
large pierced and engraved balance cock and regulator plate continuing the
inhabited foliage motif. Baluster pillars and engraved alarm mainspring barrel.
This watch sounds an alarm on a bell
mounted in the back of the inside case. The piercing allows the sound out.
