J. Alfred Jurgensen Mnute Repeater

Fine and scarce J. Alfred Jurgensen 18K gold minute repeater circa 1885. Heavy engine turned case (small dings) with slide in the band to activate the repeat. White dial with black markings and blued steel hands. Fine nickel estimated 32 jewel movement with wolf tooth winding. Unusual push to set mechanism.

When activated this watch chimes the hours, quarters and minutes with two hammers on two gongs. Clear tones.

Jacques Alfred Jürgensen was the youngest son of the renowned Jules Jürgensen. He worked in his father's company and was perhaps the best worker there. Because he was so talented, and with the help of his father, he was able to start his own compa talented, and with the help of his father, he was able to start his own company in 1865 at the age of 23 which he ran for 31 years. His father's company was run by his older brother, Jules Frederick
