Very attractive Viennese erotic silver gilt and enamel renaissance style single-handed
oval pocket watch circa 1800.
The dial in polychrome champlevee enamel with a blued steel hand. The case back (minor
restoration) with a mythological painted enamel scene of the naked figures of Poseidon
rescuing Diana. The edge decorated with scrolling foliage against a pink
enamel background. The inside with a painted enamel scene of a bird rescuing a baby.
The verge and fusee movement with pierced andengraved cock by Josept Strixner in Wein. Runs and stops.
During the 19th century Vienna was a center for the revival of Renaissance and rococo
designs in enamel. Some designs were direct copies of earlier works and others followed
earlier styles resulting in original designs in the classical manner.

NOTE: The small circles or shadows in some of our photos
are reflections of the camera lens. Since this watch is much smaller than in the
enlarged photos, a tiny blemish or imperfection that you could not see when looking
at the actual watch can appear very large in the photos.
