Fine and scarce Patek Philippe 18K gold Observatory Chronometer circa 1899.
White enamel dial with red and black numerals and fancy gold hands.
Plain polish case with fancy monogram
Particularly fine 20 jewel nickel adjusted extra movement with unusual precision regulator,
dual serial numbers, diamond cap jewel, and Guillaume balance with gold and platinum balance screws.
This is one of the earliest Patek Philippe watches with Guillaume balance.
With observatory certificate.
"Extra" quality watches were specially adjusted by masters who were the highest paid workers in the watch industry. These watches were made to the highest possible standards and were several times more expensive than the regular production. Observatory contest award winners were particularly prized.
