Fine and scarce Swiss 18K minute repeating grande sonnerie clockwatch
with original box circa 1890.
Plain polish hunting case with repeat button in the band and chime/silent lever at
the edge of the bezel. White enamel dial with gold and blued steel hands.
High grade 29 jewel frosted gilt movement with tandem winding and screwed jewel settings.
Original fitted wooden box with fancy button in the top to activate the repeat.
With the selection lever in the strike position this watch automatically chimes the hours and
quarters every 15 minutes. This means that 1:15 has a different chime than 2:15.
Silent means the watch does not strike automatically. When activated this watch
chimes the time to the nearest minute with particularly melodious loud and clear
chimes. Excellent example.
