"Extra" quality watches were specially adjusted by masters who were the highest
paid workers in the watch industry. These watches were made to the highest
possible standards and were several times more expensive than the regular
production. Only the very best of these watches were selected for observatory trials.
Jeannot & Shiebler, whose 'J' superimposed over an 'S' 18K and 14K trade marks
are easily recognized, was a well-respected manufacturer of solid gold watch cases
in New York City. Numerous movements that were sold by Patek factory without cases are
found in their original JS cases.
