Enamel Bell Repeater
Fine 18K gold and painted enamel verge and fusee bell repeater with dumb
function circa 1800 signed Breguet, Paris.
The case back with lovely painted enamel garden courting scene within a blue
border (small repair) with gold decorations. The edge of the back with colored gold
floral decorations and pierced to release the sound of the bell chime.
Bold white enamel dial with stone set gold hands within brilliant set border.
The movement with pierced and engraved balance cock and slide at the
edge of the movement to make the hours tap the time so the loud bell does
not disturb other people. A most attractive watch with a sweet clear tone.
Abraham Louis Breguet was perhaps the greatest watchmaker of all time.
His fame was so great that many of his contemporaries signed his name to their
products. This fine watch was not made by Breguet.
