Very fine and very rare English 18K gold grand and petit sonnerie clock-watch minute repeater perpetual calendar by Benson circa 1870. Fine white enamel dial with black markings, moon aperture, and blued steel hands. One hairline in the seconds sector. Levers at the bezel to select Strike - Silent and Quarters - Hours & Quarters. Heavy plain polish case with repeater trip in the band. Fine gilt 3/4 plate estimated 24 jewel freesprung movement with diamond cap. Engraved with Royal Warrants.
Both perpetual calnendar watches and clockwatches are rare, and to find both in one watch is highly unusual. This watch movement is attributed to Louis Audemars based on the quality of the work and his unusual engraving on the moons.
