Ulysse Nardin was born in 1823 in Le Locle, Switzerland. He was an acomplished
watchmaker having trained under his father, Leonard-Frederic
Nardin and later under two master watchmakers, Frederic William Dubois and
Louis JeanRichard-dit-Bressel. The company Ulysse Nardin was founded in 1846
and remained under Ulysse's control until his passing in 1876, when his 21-year
old son, Paul-David Nardin took over. 1876 was also the year in which Paul-
David Nardin received the only Gold Medal ever awarded at the Concours international
de réglage de Genève as well as the Prix d'Honneur. The firm went on to
receive numerous awards all over the world. The company name went through a
number of changes and reverted back to Ulysse Nardin in 1922.
