Very fine and very rare slim French 18K gold early stemwind quarter repeater
by Le Roy & Fils circa 1845.
Substantial engine turned case (edge wear) with repeat slide in the band.
First quality 32 jewel movement winding in only one direction. With wolf's
tooth winding and counterpoised lever. White enamel dial ( 1 clean hairline) with
blued steel Breguet hands.
This is a rare example of an early first quality stemwind repeater by one of the most
famous of makers.
When activated, this watch chimes the time using different bright chime tones to
designate the hours and quarter hours.
